    Data Engineer (Python/Power BI) - Financial Services

    A financial services company based in the City of London is seeking a Data Engineer that has a strong background in Python and Power BI to join the Software Delivery team to strengthen the power of data within the business. The company is moving its data from legacy stores to a strategic data warehouse and data lakes to optimise its operational workload, research, and analytics.

    This person will help influence high-level decisions regarding various processes including design choices, technical standards, coding standards, and tools, while also working collaboratively with the team by utilising communication and problem solving skills.

    Key responsibilities:

    • Ability to build data pipelines that will allow optimal extraction, transformation, and incorporation of data from various data sources.
    • Be able to utilise Power BI to build dashboards and reports.
    • Understand the Data Virtualisation layer and partner with the Business for continued deployment and Business enhancements.
    • Improve solutions and be able to anticipate where the demand is for the business.
    • Build analytics tools that utilise the data pipeline to provide key insights for various areas of the business.
    • Automate processes for early feedback.
    • Communicate progress and risk to appropriate teams.
    • Contribute to the continual evaluation of suitability of tool choices.
    • Collaborate towards the onboarding of Jupiter playbooks/python apps.

    Your experience:

    • Building API's with a key focus on Python.
    • Optimise 'big data' data pipelines, architectures and data sets.
    • Strong experience in Power BI including advanced ability to design dashboards.
    • Strong SQL skills.
    • Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management.
    • The ability to manipulate, combine, process, and extract value from disconnected datasets.
    • Strong experience in automating formulas from Excel to Power BI.
    • Be able to guide other members of the team on Power BI.
    • Working experience developing Power Bi custom visuals in R.
    • Experience in merging disparate data sets from multiple data sources

    This is a contract position based in London that operates on a hybrid work setup of three days per week in the office.

      A Financial Services Company in Southampton is currently seeking a Solutions Architect to join their Technology team.

      The company are currently going through a lot of positive change and digital transformation across various user platforms, with improvements across the digitalization of key applications. The company are well into their cloud journey, partnering with Azure, as well as using other state-of-the art tools to successfully make these changes.

      This person will help create IT design solutions for business units and functions, building technology domain requirements aligned to the Enterprise Architecture framework, as well as key Strategy and long term roadmaps. This team are responsible for the digital design and build out of capabilities for key applications, and driving downstream development of these key changes.

      The team also helps support the development, maintenance, communication and implementation of the solution designs, as well as conducting in-depth technical reviews, and bringing together key expertise to ensure designs are fit for purpose.

      Key Requirements;

      • Proven track record working in Technology Solution Design, from an applications perspective.
      • Experience within a wide variety of IT functions, including system analysis, development and project management.
      • Understanding of industry best practice and trends together with their application within a business context.
      • Knowledge of a wide variety of technologies including several of the disciplines in strategic IT architecture covering either application, infrastructure, data or security architecture with evidenced practice of at least two domains.

      This person will lead the support team who provide support and maintenance across various desks and multiple asset classes including credit and interest rate derivatives, credit default swaps, currency swaps and interest rate swaps and well as cash equities.

      The team are also responsible for helping improve processes, fixes and enhancements, and Co-ordinate software releases in UAT and Production environments.

      Other duties include updating support documentation and owning the development once released.

      Experience required;

      • Strong Application Support experience within a Financial Trading environment.
      • Solid Supervisory / Management / team leadership experience in technology support of Capital Markets trading and related functions.
      • Solid business knowledge of derivative products (interest rate swaps, credit default swaps, exchange traded futures and options, convertible bonds).
